Twitch holds her hand out to the object like she is presenting something extraordinary.
"This!" she says excitedly. "It's alien right? It kind of looks like a giant soda can! And I can hear liquid inside!"
no subject
"It is from another planet to both of us, so it is indeed alien," he says indulgently, shifting it around in his hand to get a better look at the text on the front. The Neocybex of this reality is slightly different in dialect from his own, but he can work out what it says well enough. "This is a can of carbonated energon, and..."
He squints a little at the can, not unlike how he had squinted at the sparking Emberstone.
"Ah. Very strong energon at that."
no subject
"Do you think I can try some? Do you think it tastes good?" She wasn't [i]cybertronian[i/] but surely trying a little sip would be fine! She was still a mechanical lifeform with relation to Cybertron. It was fine. It would be fine. Her curiosity was going to have her vibrate into the ceiling.
no subject
This will undoubtedly disappoint her, but Optimus is not very keen on finding out what Nightmare Fuel could do to her tiny little Terran body.
"Shall we go to Maccadam's so you can get an energon soda that isn't as strong? It would taste a lot nicer than this stuff as well."
no subject
"Not even a little try?" she asks, only somewhat hopeful.
She sighs, dramatic and long. "Okay," she agrees, but her disappointment is palpable as she settled back to her feet. "What do we do with this?" she asks, putting a hand to the oversized can.
no subject
At least, he'd certainly hope not.
"What we do, is..." He picks up the can, something occurring to him. "I wonder if you and your siblings have subspace. Because then we can just do... this!"
A magic trick! With an over the top flourish and movement of the hands, the can completely disappears as Optimus drops it into his own subspace.
no subject
She supposes she shouldn't be too disappointed, it didn't exactly look... healthy anyways. But she was really excited about her discovery and just really wanted to do something cool for once.
Though, now that she thought about it, Robby and Mo might have said the same thing, about not trying the drink.
There definitely had to be cooler things around the ship that wouldn't be so dangerous that Optimus would let her try.
She wasn't sure what Optimus was talking about at first but then the can basically just disappeared and her eyes went wide.
"You think I can do that too?!" she asked, all the energy and excitement and now coursing with the electricity through her body. She flipped into her drone form and flitted around, as if trying to find where the can went, or would come out of again.
no subject
"I don't know," he says, truthfully, pulling the can back out of his subspace and placing it on the table, index finger lingering on the top. "It wouldn't be with anything this big-- the size must be relative. It's like.... pockets!"
Oh, he looks so pleased with himself for that similarity drawn.
"Let's get to Maccadam's and see what they have for you in the soda range, yes?"
no subject
Twitch watches in awe as the can appears again and it's a wonder it fits anywhere on Optimus' person.
She flips back into her root form and pats over her body, trying to find a space that opens like it did for Optimus. "Pockets..." she mutters. Unfortunately, she has no such luck. "I don't think I have one," she says, a little pouty. She wonders if it's the same for her brothers and sisters, if a lack of subspace is a terran thing or if it's just her.
She sighs, but tries not to let it get her down too much. "Yeah, okay. Have you had soda before?" she asks.
no subject
They don't really have the resources for nice things like that on Earth, and he's actually not all that sure how you'd go about carbonating Energon on a level that large. Along the way, he figures he'll get an excuse to ask her a few things that have been bothering him. Starting not at least with; "How are you finding life on the ship? Have you visited the observation room at all?"
no subject
She doesn't know how to respond to that so she doesn't say anything at all, but it makes her feel a little sad, being reminded how old he is. He's been through so much she's only heard about in stories.
She is flying beside him but drifts lower to the ground at his questions.
"It's okay," she says softly, looking down at her feet. "I haven't really explored all that much."
no subject
"I see," Optimus says neutrally, desperately clamouring for something to cheer her up with, but coming up with nothing. "Well-- Hashtag gave me the grand tour, I can-- maybe we can go with her afterwards."
Is the observation room even a good idea? How is she going to react to being faced with the undeniable reality of being in space and so far from home?
"Or, whatever you would like to do, Twitch."
no subject
What she wanted to do? She wanted to go home, yeah, Hashtag was here, and Optimus, but really wasn't the same, no offense.
She tries to perk up a little. No one likes a party pooper.
"Yeah, the observation deck sounds fun!" she says, zipping forward a little. "What flavor sodas do you think they have? Oh oh! Do you think they have orange? I've seen an orange soda once and I always wanted to try it!"
no subject
...In this moment he is so curious about how it tastes. Maybe if he was several million years younger he might chug it without any thought for consequences. Alas, he's grown up a bit now.
"There's certainly any kind of treat in there you'd want. Isn't that nice? Bumblebee and I did discuss something similar a few months ago, but haven't had the time to make anything a reality..."
no subject
Now this was getting exciting.
"They have the cave water here?" she asked, genuinely surprised as her rotors lifted her further off the floor. "I thought that was just an earth thing?"
They really did have everything! She wondered what sort of things she could ask for before they told her they couldn't make it. Optimus wouldn't let her drink the cool drink she found but maybe they could make up for it some crazy concoction that wouldn't try and mess with her systems... to badly.

Twitch pauses, her eyes narrowing slightly as she thought. She hadn't really thought about her energy levels, she had been so worried about everything else that it hadn't been a consideration, but now that he mentioned it...
"I think I'm okay, I'm not all zombie yet or anything, but I don't know how much longer it'll be." She might as well be honest, it wasn't going to help anybody if she tried to skirt the truth. They were heading for drinks anyways.
no subject
"You mustn't wait until you are zombie before seeking out fuel. The healthiest systems are maintained by regular intakes at the correct levels!" He parrots, having had the lecture from his own medics many, many times. Any hypocrisy doesn't escape him, but he at least puts on a slight accent to try and dampen the impression she's getting a lecture. "Let's make sure it's at least every other day from now on, as you certainly don't want to get overcharged either."
no subject
Twitch wasn't really looking at Optimus' face, which was probably for the best in this situation. If anything, she was avoiding looking at him with a little bit of embarrassment.
It didn't really get any better as he chastised. Even if he was really trying not to make it come off as a lecture, she sure felt the impact of it that way all the same.
She bowed her head, full on pouting; if there had been any rocks in the hallway where they were walking, she would be kicking them. "I didn't mean to...I really did forget..." she grumbles.
no subject
"I believe you," he says after a moment. "Sometimes when I have a lot of work I forget to fuel, too. Elita gives me the same talk."
He falls quiet as he walks along next to her, puzzling over what to say to soften it.
"I'm not-- angry or disappointed with you, Twitch. I wouldn't be. I just want to make sure you and your siblings are doing as well as you can while we're here. We can get some of the water and a soda while we're in Mac's."
no subject
There was a bit a sigh, but Twitch did loosen up a little.
She finally looked up at Optimus and gave him a little smile. She still felt a bit guilty about not taking care of herself properly, but if she does better in the future then maybe it would be okay. She wasn't a zombie yet at least! That was a good thing she decided. And she wasn't going to let it get that far! Especially now that she knew that there was water available.
"Okay! I'm okay, really, but I think water and soda will be good!" She said, perking up significantly.

Which is to say, if it was still the dive bar he knew it as, he wouldn't be taking her so readily.
no subject
Her 'wings' flit up a little with interest. The tension of the moment seems to have passed as she turns to fly backwards as she asks her to Optimus excitedly.
"Who is the owner now?" She asks, as if she is going to understand the answer or it will mean anything to her even if she does know who the person is. Curiosity is a funny thing like that.
no subject
"A human named Mikaela. I haven't spoken with her much, but she was the one who informed me of the accessibility for both organics and Cybertronians. Isn't it lovely to see our species integrated in such a way?" Oh, he could have stars in his optics. "There is a lift for the smaller patrons, if you want to use it instead of flying up."
He stops suddenly, in the hall, bringing up his computer arm. Map loaded.
"Ah! Just around this corner, too."
no subject
"That's so thoughtful!" she said excitedly, after a bit. Though she supposed it made sense with the variety of characters that had made it to the R2. It was very convenient that she that had something to help her and her siblings in their weird middle ground.
She rushed forward as soon as he told her it was just around the corner and flitted into what was the first open room and very clearly the room they had been just discussing.
"Whoa!!!" she gasped, looking around. What a fun place! Of course there was a way for her to get up with hands and feet but it would be a dreary day if she got anywhere without flying.
