Optimus, it would best to steer clear of the hydroponics lab for the time being. There was an incident, and it will most likely need to be gutted and seen if it is still structurally sound before returning.
[megatron's message had cut out extremely suddenly, so quickly he had no inkling it was because of an explosion and resulting damage to his frame. optimus had found it odd - and a little rude! - but figured megatron would get back to him when necessary.

[The audio call is from an unfamiliar contact, and when Optimus accepts the call, the speakers immediately pick up a shuffling of cloth from unseen blankets as Velocity hurriedly sits up in bed. She hadn't honestly expected him to accept the call in the first place, and even with no one looking at her she does want to try to project "I am a confident professional and also am friendly and super super good at bedside manner!"]
"Hello and hello again! This is Doctor Velocity from the medibay! I'm sorry to just call you out of the blue like this but I haven't seen you come in before and I was just going through the crew manifest again so! I thought I'd reach out!"

[having just had a difficult call with megatron, optimus is startled out of his thoughts when his comm rings. admittedly, he hits the accept button just in case it's one of the terrans, or megatron calling him back. they most certainly have a lot to discuss, when the time is right. he'll have to say something. the reflex goes through before he can let it go to voice mail and hearing a voice he's not familiar with makes his brain grind even more for a couple seconds.

Bumblebee had seen the latest network post Optimus had put up. It didn't take somebody like Perceptor to add one and one together to get two, especially with rumors flying around the ship about yet another brawl (and hadn't there been a lot of those lately...?).
And so he finds himself in front of Optimus' door, and gives the door a cheerful, determined series of knocks that he hopes indicates how very seriously he takes this.

When the door opens, Bumblebee might be pleased to see that, at the very least, Optimus hasn't been laying face down on his berth in the dark listening to sad music. He kind of wants to, because even his famously unbreakable optimistic spirit is getting a good workout, but he isn't, because that doesn't help anyone. Also, his chest still hurts from being smashed in by Megatron, so he can't.
It seems he opened the door without really clocking who was on the other side, because he immediately closes it again the moment he notices Bee. Somehow he didn't expect this, and given what happened back home...
Maybe he can just say he's not in?
The door opens again, predictably, and Optimus looks appropriately apologetic.
"Sorry about that, arm spasm. I was electrocuted. I'm fine now, except for those happening occasionally."
Nailed it.
"How can I help you, Bumblebee? You mentioned the lab? Ah... yes, that should be cleaned before I give it over to Megatron officially."
With that springboard, it is not difficult at all to convince Optimus out his room and back down to the lab. He's happy to chatter along awkwardly with Bumblebee as they walk, as they collect the cleaning equipment and as they actually work on any and all surfaces that might need wiped down, despite the fact none of them are particularly in need of being cleaned. He idly tells Bee all about the plants they already have ready in the lab and how to care for them, how some of them are okay to skip watering for today because they don't need so much and that a couple of them don't even need water, instead sustained off the solar lamps.
All the datapads with this information are out already, positioned neatly on one of the tables, but Optimus learned it all himself anyway. He enjoyed it, and he thinks that he should understand it all so if Megatron ever needs or wants to talk about his new interest, he'll be able to follow competently.
He even makes a couple of silly plant jokes, which most certainly indicate that he's slowly feeling a bit more comfortable in Bumblebee's company from whatever was wrong before.
Just before he's finished wiping down the last table, he stops and stands back, looking the entire lab over.
"Yes. This is better, I know it's not necessary to clean to thoroughly before giving it over, but that seems a bit politer, don't you think? Here's a lab for you, the mop's in the corner!"

[in a brief lapse of self-control, optimus ends up in full pepe silva mode trying to work out who could've possibly sent this. someone who knows orion? someone who vaguely knows what GHOST is/was but not enough to fully pass judgment? someone who would even do something like this? perhaps it's linked to the small plastic babies from before, who still remain in their row and look out into the room like a silent courtroom jury who judge his every move.

[ Recently Bass requested some important information. Who... is the strongest Cybertronian on this ship. He received a hot tip that it was 'Shockwave' but also 'not the Senator one'. There were a few thoughts that went through his processor. One... it was really dumb that there were two people here with the SAME NAME. It must get confusing! Two, while he does (surprisingly) know what a Senator is, he has no idea what a Senator looks like. Do they wear signs? Bass guesses probably not.
This leads him to one conclusion: He has to fight BOTH of them to make sure he's actually fighting the strong one.
This leads him to a second conclusion: He has no idea where Shockwave lives. He could ask for direction, ask if anyone knows... but that begs the question... If they know how strong Bass is will they even tell the truth?
There is now one solution: He has to canvas the ship himself and check every inhabited room he comes across.
So there's the backstory. And that's why Bass, armored up in his winged Treble armor (being able to fly covers ground quicker!) is pounding aggressively at your door.

Hey Optimus! Sorry for leaving without telling you but Hashtag and the rest of us are TOTALLY fine so you really don't need to worry. Nothing bad happened at all and we very definitely didn't almost die! It was... fun! Totally! Really super awesome! So definitely don't worry.

[you know, right before bambi collided with him, optimus thought of megatron and the terrans. they came into his mind when he realised he couldn't avoid the attack and was already too wounded to survive the brutality behind it, even if that brutality was not his counterpart's own. he hoped, in that split second, that he would be granted a revival, because he didn't want to leave them behind.
when he came back through the bridge a few weeks later, this message is among some of the others that pop up in his HUD. he's too relieved to see that they're back to actually process the information properly, then has to filter through a few other messages and... oh boy.]

Its probably a good idea he try to apologize to the Prime. After all all he did was try to help and Rock pushed him away. But he still feels antsy about things. Why does he need a Therapist...

Unfortunately, Optimus is in and Rock does not get a chance to flee. He opens the door with that smile when he hears it's Rock, because he hadn't expected to hear from the little guy again so soon. Or... at all.

Loosing a friend was a difficult and borderline traumatizing experience, especially when you expected more from them.
There is a hurricane of emotions coursing through Twitch as she zips blindly through the halls of the R2, nearly running into a few people but uncharacteristically not bothering to say sorry. She eventually finds herself in front of a door to a hab suite and after shifting into her root mode, it takes her a moment to realize where she is.
Optimus' room.
She lets out a sob and punches the door a few times. It doesn't make her feel better, but it does open and she scrambles inside, finding the darkest corner to curl up and hide, sobbing away her anger.
She shoots past him from where he'd opened the door and straight into the opposite corner, between two bookshelves. Pretty good hiding spot, seeing as he wouldn't be able to get into it himself.

It takes him a moment to even register that miserable red blur was her. He clomps over and crouches down, keeping his distance so he doesn't give the impression of smothering her into her chosen spot.

How did it start? Why did you resist leaving? Did you always know what they were? And how did you-

Yes... originally I destroyed the space bridge on Earth to bottleneck the war effort and make it unsustainable for both sides. It worked, and the war came to an end. At a great cost, but it would've been greater had we continued. It would see Earth rendered uninhabitable, and we would've come one step closer to destroying ourselves in the process.

Heatman was dragging a very pretty ax down one of the ship's hallways one exhausting inch at a time. It was much bigger than he was, but it was PRETTY, and he'd found it set behind a hastily written sign that said "Free to a terrible home" above an even more hastily drawn frowny face. That meant it was his turn to have it! Or anybody's, he supposed, but it was his turn first!

Still winded after chasing Nova Storm around the ship for a slightly embarrassing amount of time, Optimus is relieved that locating his axe now that she has inevitably got bored and abandoned it did not take too long. What he wants to say: I'm handling it. It's not a problem. Why he wants to say this: it is what Elita had told him when he had similarly sought her out with concern. He does not say this, however, as that would be petty and unhelpful and perhaps far too indicative of anything that might be there. Which there isn't, because he's fine. He just doesn't want her to think otherwise.

For a minute or two after the shuttle came to rest in the R2's shuttle bay and the others shuffled out, Megs sat with his optics offline. His hands rested limply in his lap and he vented, or... he was fairly sure he must have been. Everything hurt in a way that throbbed in and out. He could move if he needed to, talk if he needed to, but it was so tempting to just rest... just for once.
