[megatron's message had cut out extremely suddenly, so quickly he had no inkling it was because of an explosion and resulting damage to his frame. optimus had found it odd - and a little rude! - but figured megatron would get back to him when necessary.

oh! and he did. haha, what?]

I'm sorry? What happened?

[He types this up reluctantly from where he's already walked himself to the medibay. It wouldn't do to have Optimus see him in this condition, not when it could remind him of past or recent battles]

[If there are any other reasons why he doesn't want Optimus to see him with plating blasted off and energon sprayed across his chest, he files that away then buries that file in a deep, dark basement guarded by a titan or five]

There was an explosion. It has been taken care of.

[judging by the background noise when optimus abruptly switches to audio, he is already half-jogging. towards the lab, presumably.]

--an explosion?! Megatron, what-- what happened? Are you alright? Why was there an explosion?

[he is already very worried and presumably stressed out, going by his tone. no take backsies, it's done.]

I'm coming down. Do you need help to the medibay? Was anyone else hurt?

[Megatron feels like he perhaps should have anticipated this, but to be fair his head is still ringing, and he gives it a shake when Optimus switches to audio]

I am perfectly fine. I have lived through far worse than- [A sigh] The explosion was something I should have expected, and will be more vigilant for going forward.

[Theres a pause while Megatron irritably talks to someone out of the field of vision of his borrowed datapad] Wh- No, I do not consent to any sort of sedative. Put that down.

Optimus. [He says, louder] No one else was injured. There is no cause for concern.

Was it a leaking line? If that's the case then perhaps the pipes through the entire ship should be checked over and reinforced.

[it's audio, so megatron can't see how he winces at the mention of sedatives. it must be bad if they're suggesting something strong-- just how big was this explosion???]

Even you can't anticipate everything. [he says, going off it being an accidental explosion instead of one from a bomb placed by someone. he has no reason to believe it was the latter.] If you are going to be in the medibay, I can make sure the room isn't going to suffer another incident.

That may be difficult to do, unless you plan on patting down everyone who goes into the place.

[A sigh, as he realizes that edging around discussing the hows and the whys was just becoming impractical]

It was deliberate. Some sort of... wooden mermaid with a very large bone to pick with a version of myself planted a bomb. Or several bombs. I understand my counterparts were also visited by this same mermaid, with similar results. They are both alive, and-

[There is another, muffled voice speaking to him from further away] No I will not make a report, leave me be, I said.

No. I don't.

[it's clear he took that literally, by his reply. he sounds a bit put out that megatron thinks he might do that, but he's also incredibly aware of the security measures he's had to allow and enforce on earth.]

Oh. [now he understands what megatron meant when he says he should have anticipated it. that makes him feel... some kind of way.] You're not going to report it? Megatron, if someone feels it's necessary to cope with things by bombing rooms then something should be done about it!

[Megatron's voice descends from irritable and exasperated at whoever else he was talking to into what could almost be a growl] I have no intentions of imprisoning anyone again, not when I now have a choice!

[A medic approached despite his thunderous expression, and began reading out the scanner results to him. Burns, audial damage, torn and missing plating, and is clearly about to say more when he interrupted them sharply]

If you already partway to the medibay, stop. We will finish this conversation at another time.

[oof. ouchie, that hurts. optimus's side of the comm goes very quiet, suddenly. like he's jumping at the chance to imprison anyone, like it's ever anything he wants to do. it's a bit of a kneejerk reaction he pushes away, the same place him complaining about megatron needing a new grudge comes from, but it still makes his spark twist unpleasantly to think that megatron believes he's so keen to resort to that option.]

I got ahead of myself. I apologise. [he says, very neutrally, neglecting to voice any of it the way he always does. he's also aware that megatron has just been exploded, so.] Contact me when you are ready.

[Megatron is silent for a moment, as well, wrestling with more than one emotion. When the medic requests it in a tone barely picked up by the borrowed datapad, he holds out the arm with his damaged wrist mounted computer that he had instinctively used to protect his face during the explosion]

Understood.

[The call is then severed from Megatron's end]
